SIMOTICS GP General Purpose Motors

SIEMENS | INNOMOTICS SIMOTICS General Purpose low voltage motors with aluminum frame are suitable for a wide range of standard drive tasks in the industrial environment. As a result of their especially low weight, they are predestined for pump, fan and compressor applications. However, they are also admirably suited for conveyor technology and lifting equipment.

The proven, for line operation optimized 1LE1 low voltage motors are available in the efficiency classes IE1 to IE4. All motors have the same power rating-shaft height-assignment. This means that there are no shaft height jumps – neither for service nor retrofit cases. 1LE1 motors offer a future-proof platform.

In addition to line (DOL) motors, there are two motor lines optimized for variable-speed converter operation. An investment-optimized system comprising SIMOTICS motor (VSD10 line) and SINAMICS converter can be simply selected from the catalog or using the engineering tool – and quickly commissioned using the motor code for predefined converter parameters. The system comprising synchronous-reluctance motor (VSD4000 line) and SINAMICS G120 is the best selection for especially high energy-efficient operation.

The synchronous-reluctance technology ensures especially high efficiencies in the partial load range and dynamic performance to achieve high process quality. What all motor lines have in common: design and architecture of the low voltage motors ensure maximum flexibility and minimum associated costs when mounting and installing. Users benefit from integrated lifting eye bolts, mounting feet that can be bolted on, reinforced bearing end shields with optimum mechanical properties and terminal boxes that are easy to access. Not only this, encoders, brakes and separately-driven fans can be easily added. Stocking is also simple due to the low variance of parts enabling motor distributors to quickly respond to customer requirements.

Special features converter-optimized motors

Synchronous-reluctance technology (VSD4000 line)

The SIMOTICS GP reluctance motors 1FP10 of the VSD4000 line have been exclusively designed for converter operation – and specifically optimized for the SINAMICS G120. When compared to systems with induction motors, synchronous-reluctance technology sets itself apart as a result of its high efficiency – especially in the partial load range – and its high dynamic performance. In the first step, this innovative technology is available in the power range from 0.55 to 30 kW. The reluctance motors and the SINAMICS G120 converters have been specifically coordinated to operate with one another. Commissioning is especially simple as a result of the motor code on the motor rating plate. The converter vector control ensures optimum operating behavior.

Asynchronous technology (VSD10 line)

The SIMOTICS GP motors for variable speed operation of the VSD10 line are exclusively designed for operation with frequency converters and specially optimized for SINAMICS drives. They are perfectly matched to the frequency converters of the SINAMICS G120 series – simply an economic overall system with high reliability.
The active component of the SIMOTICS motor is designed for the power module of the SINAMICS frequency converter for an optimal system utilization and therefore a high efficiency over the complete life cycle. For extra fast commissioning the motor code on the nameplate can be entered into the operating panel BOP of the SINAMICS drive which ensures preconfigured parameters.

SIMOTICS frequency converter duty motors and SINAMICS drives are internationally applicable because they comply to local legislation and MEPS requirements.

Your benefits

  • Especially user-friendly
The 1LE1 series offers especially user-friendly terminal boxes. The 2 and 4-pole motors, shaft heights 80 and 90 go even one step further: For these motors, the terminal box is only fixed using one screw, and it can be continually rotated through 360 degrees. In addition, the terminal box is preconfigured with a terminal board. This makes it significantly simpler and faster to install motors in restricted spaces, as the motor connecting cable can be routed to the motor from any direction.
  • Especially efficient
The line motors in the efficiency class IE4 are available as catalog spectrum in the power range from 2.2 kW to 37 kW. These high efficient motors are the consequent continuation of the 1LE1 platform with aluminum housing with the same power rating – shaft height assignment as for IE1, IE2 and IE3. With IE4 the efficiency can be increased by up to 3 % compared to IE3. The result: low operation costs, low CO 2 emissions and protection of the environment.
  • Special types
The Eagle Line is available for export to NAFTA. The motors are supplied with the electrical values in compliance with EISA stamped on the rating plate. The VSD10 line and VSD4000 line are optimized for frequency converter operation and are not subject to minimum requirements in the EU and North America. In combination with the SINAMICS G120 series the frequency converter duty motors are prepared for future system efficiency standards in Europe.
  • More power
Increased power motors can be the solution if the motor must be extremely compact e.g. there is not sufficient space available for a standard motor. With these motors, in efficiency classes IE2 and IE3, power ratings of a standard motor can be realized in the next smaller shaft height.

Typical applications

  • Pumps
  • Fans
  • Compressors
  • Lifting equipment
  • Production industry
